Word 2007 and the Mini Toolbar

When text is selected in Word 2007, a Mini toolbar will appear on screen if you hover your mouse over the selection. It holds common formatting commands, plus the Format Painter and Styles. The Mini toolbar cannot be changed, so if there is additional formatting you would like to access from it, you might want to save that as a Style.

The Mini toolbar can be turned off, if you find it more annoying than helpful. Click the Office button, click the Word Options button, in the Popular category, uncheck the Show Mini Toolbar on Selection .
