Using View Side by Side in Word 2007
March 16th, 2008 | by Loren |This is a new feature that streamlines using old features in Word: it basically automates arranging two open documents when you want to view both at once.

To use it, open two files in Word, then click the View tab, and look in the Window group. There will be a View Side by Side button, below it there is a Synchronous Scrolling button. When you click the View Side by Side button, it will arrange both open files next to each other. If you have more than two files open, it will ask which file to use. Synchronous Scrolling will be automatically turned on, use the button for it to turn off. Synchronous Scrolling means that both open documents will scroll at the same time; it’s good to have on for comparing two documents, but not necessary if you need to move through each file independent of the other.
Using the Side by Side feature makes it easy to compare two documents or drag text and graphics to copy/cut and paste from one document to the other.
Tip
When dragging text or graphics from one document to the other, it will automatically move or cut it from the original document. To copy while dragging, hold the Ctrl key before letting go of the mouse button — you’ll see a little plus sign by the mouse pointer which indicates you are copying.
