New Insert Picture Option in Word 2007
February 18th, 2008 | by Loren |If you used the Insert, Picture command in older versions of Word at all, you know about changing the text wrapping from Inline to something that allowed you to move your picture on the page. Word 2007 comes with an option that allows you to choose the default for how pictures are inserted or pasted into your document, and can eliminate the need to change the wrapping on every inserted graphic.
Here’s how you change it:
- Click the Office button, then click the Word Options button (down near the bottom of the menu).
- In the left column, click Advanced and scroll down to the Cut, copy, and paste options.
- Look for Insert/paste pictures as: and use the drop-down list to the right to choose your preferred wrapping.
- Click OK to save changes.

Now whenever you insert a picture, it will have automatically have the wrapping you chose turned on.
The wrapping can still be changed by clicking on the picture (you should see the outline and sizing handles), on the title bar the Picture Tools button should appear. Clicking on Picture Tools should show the Format tab, wrapping is in Arrange.
